Canadian Points Broker vs US Brokers: How to Choose
If you're in Canada and thinking about selling points to a US broker, here's the side-by-side — paid in CAD via Interac, transparent published rates, and no account password required.
Both options are legal in Canada. The differences below are about how the transaction works, not whether it works.

Paid in CAD, no FX surprise
When a US broker pays you USD via PayPal, you absorb the currency conversion plus PayPal's transfer fee on the way into your Canadian bank account. That's typically a 3–5% haircut you only see after the transaction closes. Mega Miles pays in Canadian dollars by Interac e-Transfer — the amount on your quote is the amount in your account.
Rates you can verify before you commit
If a broker won't tell you the rate until after you submit a form, you cannot price-shop and you cannot benchmark. Our rate sheet lives at megamilesbroker.com/rates, is timestamped, and updates as the market moves. You can check it before you talk to us, after you talk to us, or three weeks from now without ever creating an account.
No password, ever
We will never ask for your Aeroplan, Amex, or Marriott account password. Every transfer is initiated by you, through the program's own interface, using step-by-step instructions we send before you click. Aeroplan moves through Family Sharing, Amex moves through your Amex dashboard's transfer page, and Marriott moves through your own Marriott account. Your credentials never leave your screen.
What “quote only” actually costs you
A “request a quote” workflow is not, by itself, a red flag — every broker will eventually quote you a number. The friction is that without a published rate sheet, you cannot benchmark the offer against anything. You don't know if it's at market, above market, or 20% below. Our rate sheet exists so you can do that comparison before you talk to us — and so we have to keep our pricing honest.
See current Mega Miles ratesHow the no-password process works
The single most common reason Canadian sellers walk away from a transaction is that the broker asked for an account login. We don't. Every program we work with — Aeroplan, Amex MR, Marriott Bonvoy — has a sanctioned, account-holder-initiated transfer mechanism. We send you the exact steps for your program. You stay logged in to your own account. You initiate the transfer yourself. We confirm receipt and pay you via Interac.
1. You stay logged in
Your credentials never leave your screen.
2. We send exact instructions
Plain-English steps for your specific program.
3. You initiate the transfer
Every transfer happens through the program's own interface.
